Apr\u00e8s la phase aigu\u00eb, de nombreux patients pr\u00e9sentent des s\u00e9quelles motrices, cognitives et langagi\u00e8res persistantes malgr\u00e9 les traitements conventionnels. L\u2019oxyg\u00e9noth\u00e9rapie hyperbare (OHB) repr\u00e9sente une approche compl\u00e9mentaire prometteuse pour r\u00e9activer les zones c\u00e9r\u00e9brales endommag\u00e9es mais encore viables, appel\u00e9es \u00ab\u00a0p\u00e9numbra\u00a0\u00bb. En augmentant la pression d\u2019oxyg\u00e8ne dans les tissus, l\u2019OHB stimule la neuroplasticit\u00e9 et favorise la cr\u00e9ation de nouvelles connexions neuronales permettant de contourner les zones l\u00e9s\u00e9es. Plusieurs essais cliniques t\u00e9moignent de r\u00e9cup\u00e9rations fonctionnelles remarquables chez des patients trait\u00e9s par OHB, parfois plusieurs ann\u00e9es apr\u00e8s leur AVC. Des am\u00e9liorations significatives ont \u00e9t\u00e9 observ\u00e9es au niveau de la mobilit\u00e9, de la parole, de la m\u00e9moire et des capacit\u00e9s cognitives g\u00e9n\u00e9rales.
